Joseph Rockman is a NY State Licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Herbalist (NCCAOM board certified) with a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine, and a Licensed Massage Therapist who studied acupuncture at Tri State College of Acupuncture in New York City. Joseph practices Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). He also specializes in Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM), which is a modern American approach to classical meridian acupuncture that draws from both classical meridian acupuncture and Western physical medicine, notably the technique of myofascial release of soft-tissue constrictions or trigger points to aid or relieve pain syndromes.Joseph is also trained in Japanese acupuncture. This style is known as an effective style of acpuncture which draws from classical acupuncture while incorporating modern Western biomedicine principles to understand the patient’s complaint. This style utilizes abdominal palpation, moxibustion, and release points to confirm that certain symptoms have changed during and after the treatment.
In addition to Joseph’s training, he has practiced in the New York area for the past 20 years as a NY State Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in manual trigger point release and deep medical massage for the treatment of any type of pain caused by stress, trauma, or sports injuries. He also practices Tui Na, Amma therapy, and Swedish (European) massage for pain and or relaxation.
Joseph is trained in Chinese herbal medicine and Kanpo herbal medicine. He has a strong background in TCM and Chinese herbal medicine for the past 13 years and is committed to the field and helping people recover from illness and pain.
Joseph also incorporates dietary recommendations, lifestyle changes, Tai Chi, and Qi Gong exercises into his practice when necessary.
Joseph is a certified Qigong teacher. He practices daily Qigong and teaches Qigong classes in his Long Beach, NY office. His style is a mixture of medical Qigong with both soft and hard styles. In addition, he has 6 years background in Hung Ga Southern Shaolin style Kung Fu.
